Stetson School of Music Alumna, Rachel Sorenson, has been appointed Assistant Professor of Music Education at Kennesaw State University, in Georgia.
Prof. Sorenson holds degrees from Stetson University (’12) and Florida State University, where she recently earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education degree. She has taught courses at Purdue University, Fort Wayne, as well as at Florida State, and previously served in leadership positions at River Springs Middle School, University High School and Andrew Jackson Middle School.
An active scholar, she has been published in Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, Contributions to Music Education, and in Research Perspectives in Music Education, and has presented nationally and internationally. Among many honors, she received the Graduate Research Award at the Florida Music Educators Association Conference, and the Outstanding Music Educator Award at Stetson University, where she was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.
