Dr. John Lychner, Director of Music Education at Stetson, was the featured speaker for two sessions of the weekly meeting of Pláticas de Capacitación ANADYBAS, Asociación Nacional de Directores y Bandas Sinfónicas, in June.  

The sessions took place on June 4th and 11th.  He shared information from his FMEA presentation on the topic of post-pandemic recruiting and retention approaches and engaged in discussion with the group of Band Directors from across Mexico via Zoom.  Among the attendees were directors of State Bands, State Youth Bands, and school bands.  Lychner had met and developed professional friendships with several of the directors while doing research on approaches to better serve students from migrant families in music classes in 2005 and has maintained contact since that time.  

During his travels to Mexico over several years, he has served as a clinician for a symposium, worked with a variety of ensembles, and conducted the State Band of Queretaro.  Following the session on June 11th, Lychner was invited to return to conduct the State Band of Fresnillo, Mexico.
