On Sunday, July 19, 2026, Stetson University School of Music students Iván Kostornyi and Judah Horne traveled with Dr. Washington Garcia, Dean of the School of Music, to Baltimore, Maryland, to perform at Piano at Peabody, hosted by the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

Iván, a sophomore violinist in the studio of Routa Kroumovitch-Gomez, and Judah, a junior pianist in the studio of Sean Kennard, represented Stetson in a performance of Claude Debussy’s Sonata in G Minor for Violin and Piano. Debussy’s final completed composition, the sonata was written amid the hardship and desolation of France during World War I. Across its three movements, it traces an expressive journey from bleak austerity toward increasing energy and jubilant excitement.

Piano at Peabody offers adult pianists the opportunity to study with internationally recognized faculty, attend concerts and presentations, and perform for fellow participants. As part of the program, Dr. Garcia also delivered a presentation and joined Peabody faculty member Dr. Christopher Dillon in a performance of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, a work that captures the vitality and urban energy of 1920s New York City.

The engagement provided Iván and Judah with a valuable opportunity to perform at one of the nation’s leading music institutions, engage with the Peabody community, and represent the artistic excellence of the Stetson University School of Music. They were grateful for the opportunity to share their artistry in such a distinguished musical setting.
