Born and raised in Miami, FL, Cuban-American tenor Michael Anthony Rodriguez is a resident artist with the Houston Grand Opera for their 2021-2022 season. While completing his graduate studies at Louisiana State University under the esteemed Professor Robert Grayson and Metropolitan Opera sensation Paul Groves, Mr. Rodriguez came to national attention as a district winner and regional encouragement winner of the Met’s National Council Auditions in 2021. He has also performed as a featured soloist and ensemble member with New Orleans Opera, Vero Beach Opera, the Bel Canto Singers of Daytona, Treasure Coast Community Singers, and the Millennium Master Chorale.
Michael attributes much of his growth and success to his Stetson family’s support and dedication toward preparing him for life after graduation. Countless individuals’ tireless efforts through four major path changes made possible a Music & Physics degree for Michael, with which he has since worked as both an aerospace engineer and opera singer.
Michael was a student of Dr. Craig W. Maddox during his studies at Stetson.
