Oboist Andrei Caquimbo Attends Brevard Music Center and National Music Festival

Andrei Caquimbo was accepted to and attended both the Brevard Music Center and the National Music Festival during summer 2026. He participated in the orchestral program at each festival.

The National Music Festival, located in Chestertown, Maryland, combines world-class mentor musicians and gifted pre-professional apprentice musicians for an intensive festival experience during the first two weeks of June. All apprentices receive full scholarships and housing, primarily with host families in private homes. Mentor and apprentice musicians rehearse and perform side by side in orchestral, chamber, solo recital, choral, and chamber opera repertoire. In two weeks, the musicians present more than 30 concerts and dozens of free open rehearsals for music lovers from around the world.

The Brevard Music Center, located in Brevard, North Carolina, is a summer institute and festival that teaches gifted young musicians to prepare and perform great musical works at a high artistic level. The Brevard Music Center creates a community of student and professional musicians each summer who inspire one another and strive for ever-higher levels of artistry. Approximately 40,000 audience members support and encourage students and guest artists through world-class performances.

Students from across the United States and around the world bring the Brevard Music Center campus to life each season. They demonstrate creativity, self-discipline, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. Nearly 1,000 students work closely with faculty and have the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside their mentors.

Andrei is a current student in the Stetson University School of Music and studies with Dr. Dione Chandler.
