Alumnus Adam Wallace Earns National Recognition Conducting

Adam Wallace (BME, cum laude, 2022) has been awarded third place in The American Prize in Conducting (College/University Band Division). Out of ten finalists representing universities nationwide, Wallace stood out as the youngest finalist named across all band conducting divisions.

The American Prize is a prestigious national competition judged through recorded submissions. Wallace’s entry highlighted performances from his Master of Music conducting recital, featuring members of the Texas Christian University Wind Symphony (Fort Worth, TX).

Currently, Wallace serves as Assistant Band Director at Richard J. Allie Middle School in Crowley, Texas, just south of Fort Worth. He also contributes as a rehearsal assistant and guest conductor with the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra’s middle and high school wind ensembles. His college mentors in conducting and music education include Bobby R. Francis, Douglas L. Phillips, Brian Youngblood, and John Lychner, along with many others who have shaped his development as a band educator and conductor.
