The Stetson University School of Music is pleased to announce the publication of an article by Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Education in the June 2025 issue of Music Educators Journal, a peer-reviewed national publication. The article, titled “The Infinite Game Mindset in Music Education: Addressing Burnout, Cultivating a Career,” offers fresh perspectives on addressing teacher burnout and sustaining careers in music education.
Drawing on concepts from game theory, the article explores how defining music teaching as an “infinite game” can help educators maintain resilience and a sense of purpose. The author suggests strategies—including vision-driven decision-making, adopting a growth mindset, and seeking external support—that can help teachers reduce burnout and remain engaged in the profession.
This publication reflects the ongoing commitment of Stetson’s faculty to support the well-being and success of music educators, while contributing to broader conversations in the field. It appears in Music Educators Journal, Volume 111, Issue 4 (June 2025), pages 22–24, and is available online.
