Dr. Chandler L. Wilson, Director of Bands and faculty member in the School of Music, delivered the keynote address at the Broward County Public Schools Pre-Service Conference on August 6, held at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Broward County Public Schools—recognized as the second-largest school district in Florida and the sixth-largest in the United States—hosts the annual event to energize and equip hundreds of fine arts educators ahead of the new academic year.
Dr. Wilson’s keynote, titled “Finding Balance: In Art, In Teaching, In Life,” addressed the importance of maintaining personal well-being while navigating the demands of the teaching profession. Drawing from his own journey as an educator, Dr. Wilson shared practical strategies and heartfelt reflections to inspire balance, resilience, and sustainability in an educator’s career.
Dr. Wilson’s connection to the district runs deep, as he began his career in Broward County, serving as Director of Bands at Hollywood Hills High School, Olsen Middle School, and Cooper City High School. His return as keynote speaker represents both a personal and professional milestone.
He was invited to speak by Joseph Luechauer, K–12 Music Curriculum Specialist for Broward County Public Schools.
