Alumna Lisa Langston Authors Column in the Florida Music Director

Alumna Lisa Langston (BME 95) was invited to author the Diverse Learners Committee column in the May 2025 issue of the Florida Music Director, the FMEA state journal.  She titled the column “Old Dog, New Tricks: Recorder Success!”  It describes challenges that students have experienced when trying to play the recorder over the years and the potential ways that a newly designed recorder may be a game changer.

A 30-year veteran music educator, Lisa is an Orff-certified and has taught in Seminole County for the past 26 years.

Her students have performed at Walt Disney World, the Seminole County Public School Board, and various venues throughout the community. They have also performed the National Anthem for the Orlando Magic and the Orlando Solar Bears. Mrs. Langston is an active and supportive member of the school and community.  She is also an active member of the Central Florida Orff Chapter and the Florida Music Educators Association, as well as the Co-Music Director at Tuscawilla Presbyterian Church.  In recent years, Mrs. Langston has been an All-County Clinician for Seminole County, Orange County, and Volusia County.
