Over the course of the 2024–2025 academic year, Sophia Maritz completed eight hours of training with the RespTrack device, developed by the Phonetics Laboratory at Stockholm University, as well as with the Praat analysis software. This training supported her work on the research project The Impact of Static Postures on Breathing for Singing, which she is conducting under the mentorship of Dr. Ballantyne and Dr. Howell. The opportunity was made possible through professional development funding generously provided by the Stetson School of Music and has significantly enriched her academic experience at Stetson University. Sophia is excited to continue her research and has been selected to present the project’s findings at the International Congress of Voice Teachers this summer in Toronto. She will complete the full research paper during the Summer and Fall 2025 semesters.
