Dylan King (BMp ’14) has been appointed as Lecturer and Coordinator of Global Engagement for the University of Florida’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Beyond120 program, which focuses on professional development and experiential learning. This exciting opportunity follows his previous role as an academic advisor for CLAS, where he primarily supported UF Online students, led study abroad programs for pre-health students in Spain and Italy, and is set to oversee additional internship and shadowing programs abroad.
A dedicated musician and educator, King has made significant contributions to the arts community. He served on the board of the Florida Flute Association (FFA) from 2020 to 2024 and currently holds the position of Program Chair for the FFA’s annual convention. Additionally, he performs with the Gainesville Orchestra and the Ocala Symphony and directs the Gainesville Flute Ensemble.
In his new role, King aims to inspire students to think beyond the classroom. He encourages them to pursue their passions while recognizing the valuable skills they acquire both inside and outside their studies, helping them become well-rounded and competitive in various fields.
At Stetson, King studied under the guidance of Susan McQuinn and Dr. Jean West. He earned his Master of Music from the University of Florida in 2017 and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree at UF under the mentorship of Dr. Kristen Stoner.
As he embarks on this new chapter, Dylan King exemplifies the spirit of Stetson University, demonstrating how a Stetson music education can lead to impactful careers in academia and the arts. His journey serves as an inspiration to current students and fellow alumni, highlighting the importance of creativity and adaptability in today’s diverse job market.
