Dr. Shane Thomas has been appointed director of Choral Activities and assistant professor of music at Northwestern State University. He will conduct the Chamber Choir, Cane River Singers, and facilitate the Northwestern Choral Artists. He will also teach vocal music education, choral methods, and literature, mentor graduate students, and administer choral activities within the School for Creative and Performing Arts.
Previously, Dr. Thomas was the director of Choral Activities at McNeese State University, where he oversaw significant program growth and created the McNeese Choral Festival and Summer Vocal Camp. He also founded the Louisiana Vocal Arts Ensemble, a professional chorus.
Dr. Thomas maintains an active career as a clinician, tenor chorister, and soloist, performing with various professional choral ensembles. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Music from Westminster Choir College, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Stetson University.
