Dr. Dunwoody Mirvil, Assistant Professor of Trombone, has been invited to perform a guest artist recital at the 2024 International Trombone Festival taking place this May at Texas Christian University. The International Trombone Festival is an annual multi-day event featuring all things trombone. Each year, artists, teachers, students, professionals, industry leaders, and hobbyists gather to celebrate and explore the many facets and styles of trombone playing, teaching, and craftsmanship.
Dr. Mirvil’s recital centers on new works from under-represented composers, including members of the BIPOC, women, and LGBTQ+ communities. The performance will include the premiere of three commissioned works and selections initiated by consortiums of which he was a member. The works presented in this recital will be accessible to all trombonists, from college-age to professional.
