Stetson University School of Music alumnus Stephan Fillare has been appointed as the Instructor of Music, Conductor of the Furman Symphony Orchestra, and Director of Orchestral Activities at Furman University.
After earning his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Stetson University under the guidance of Routa Kroumovitch-Gomez, Stephan’s career trajectory was profoundly shaped. His transformative experiences at Stetson, characterized by rigorous standards and nurturing mentorship, prepared him for a successful decade in New York City’s dynamic music scene.
Stephan’s dedication to continual improvement led him to pursue further education, culminating in a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Cincinnati. As he embarks on this new chapter at Furman, Stephan carries the values and ideals instilled in him at Stetson, ready to inspire and impact the Furman University community just as he was inspired during his time as a Hatter.
Congratulations to Stephan on his exciting new role.

Congratulations Stephen!
I am so proud of your achievements!

You are a shining example for many students! I am so happy for you and Jennifer. It was my pleasure working with you as your violin teacher during your middle school and high school years, and now thrilled to be your friend as an adult. One day, I hope to be able to play in an ensemble under your baton, Dr. Fillare. 🥰
