Dr. Gregory LeFils Presents at the FMEA Conference on Cultivating Resilience in Music Education

Dr. Gregory LeFils, Jr., Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Education at Stetson University, presented a clinic session titled “Rising To The Challenge: How To Cultivate Resilience And Character In Music Education For Success” at the Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA) Conference on Thursday, January 11th, 2024.

The 60-minute session explored the crucial role of resilience and character development alongside technical proficiency in shaping successful musicians and well-rounded individuals. Dr. LeFils drew upon recent research and practical strategies to guide participants in fostering these qualities within their students.

“As music educators, we recognize that musical skill is just one piece of the puzzle,” Dr. LeFils stated. “This session delved into the importance of resilience and character, equipping participants with tools to cultivate these strengths in their students, enabling them to navigate challenges and setbacks with grace and determination.”
