Stetson University School of Music Hosts Southeastern Region NATSAA

The Stetson University School of Music hosted the Southeastern Regional round of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Awards (NATSAA) on September 30th at Lee Chapel. This biennial competition aims to spotlight young singers whose artistry suggests they’re on the cusp of a professional career. The competition provides a cash prize, scholarships for continued study, and opportunities for performance engagements. Participants from the NATS Southeastern Region—covering Alabama, Georgia, and Florida—performed selections from prepared full recitals for three distinguished judges. The first place winners of these regional events will advance to the National Semifinals and Finals, set to take place in New York City in January 2024.

Virginia Mims, soprano (left), was the first-place winner of the Southeastern Regional NATSAA. Samantha Friedman, mezzo-soprano (right), was selected as the alternate. Congratulations are in order for these remarkable young professionals. The day was filled with stunning vocal performances at Lee Chapel.
