Dr. Chadley Ballantyne and Alyson Culbertson (BMp ’23) presented two collaborative projects at The Voice Foundation 2023 Symposium, held May 31st through June 4th in Philadelphia, PA. This annual event is a forum for surgeons, scientists, speech-language pathologists, voice teachers, and students in the voice care field. Experts from around the world gather to share the newest findings and techniques in voice science, voice medicine, and voice pedagogy.
Dr. Ballantyne and Ms. Culbertson presented a poster paper on voice pedagogy strategies based on biomechanics titled “Antagonism in the Voice Studio: Discovery Through Range of Motion and Contrasting Sounds.” In collaboration with Dr. Joshua Glasner of Delaware Valley University, they also gave a podium presentation on using spectral moment analysis to gain insight into the perception of commercial recordings titled “High Frequency Energy in Commercial Recordings: An exploratory study.”
Collaborative work on both of these projects will continue in the coming year.
